Infused oils, also known as macerated oils, include arnica and hypericum (also known as St John's Wart).  Infused oils are made by adding the freshly harvested herbs to cold pressed vegetable oil.  The mixture is left to infuse for several weeks and then the resulting oil is drained and filtered leaving the macerated oil.  As the herbs are already mixed with a cold pressed vegetable oil, infused oils may be used directly on the skin and as a base for diluting essential oils.
